Born from friendship. Made for wherever the day takes you.
Bonkers Beachwear was founded by Will Lewellen with a simple belief: the best things begin with people.
From the very beginning, relationships have shaped Bonkers - the people who make our clothes, the people who wear them, and the people we meet along the way.
In fact, Bonkers began with a friendship.
Will became friends with the son of a clothing manufacturer, brought together by a shared love of photography, creativity, and seeing the world a little differently. From that connection came conversations, ideas, and the opportunity to build a business.
That spirit still sits at the heart of Bonkers today.
The People of Bonkers
We believe a brand should be about more than the things it sells.
It should be about the people behind them.
The People of Bonkers are the friends, makers, photographers, artists, travellers, characters, and unexpected encounters that become part of our story. Some stay with us for years. Others we might meet for an afternoon somewhere on our journey.
They all leave something behind. They are all shaping the way we develop the business.
Bonkers exists to celebrate those relationships — because life becomes far more interesting when you stay open to the people you meet along the way.
From Beach to Bed
Bonkers is beachwear, but we don’t believe beachwear should stay on the beach.
Our pieces are made for slow mornings and long lunches. Swimming and sleeping. Travelling, wandering, reading, dancing, doing absolutely nothing.
Beach to bed and everywhere in between.
Above all, we want people to feel relaxed in Bonkers.
Relaxed in what they’re wearing. Relaxed in themselves. Comfortable enough to forget about the clothes and simply enjoy wherever they happen to be.
Limited by Fabric. Unlimited by Imagination.
We’re moved more recently towards a more considered way of making things. This was an important development for us.
Instead of endlessly producing more, we’re working increasingly with fabric remnants, deadstock, and existing textiles, using what already exists to inspire what comes next.
A forgotten roll of fabric might become twenty shirts. Another might become thirty pairs of shorts. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
This naturally leads to smaller, limited runs and prints that don’t need to exist forever.
We like that unpredictability. We like being part of the solution, and not the problem.
Rather than seeing limitation as restriction, we see it as a creative starting point. The fabric leads the imagination, and each collection becomes a small, self-contained moment in the life of Bonkers.
It’s also part of our commitment to building a more thoughtful, sustainable world around the brand. We should all be making fewer things, making them well, and finding beauty and possibility in materials that already exist.
What next for Bonkers
We’re still figuring it out.
Meeting people. Taking photographs. Finding fabrics. Making things we want to wear. Introducing pieces for the home, accessories to wear. Changing our minds. Following ideas and seeing where they lead.
That’s part of the point.
Bonkers isn’t just about beachwear.
It’s about friendship, imagination, and the people you collect along the way.
Made for the beach. Made for bed. Made for colourful homes. Made for whatever happens in between.
